The city put 19 numbered signs at the beach entrances, and the point is a faster 911 call when something goes wrong on that windy bank.
The City of Victoria has installed 19 numbered signs at beach entrances along Dallas Road, from Ogden Point to Gonzales Beach.
The idea is simple. Note the number of the entrance you walked in at, and if something happens, give that number to the 911 operator so crews can find you faster.
The city says the new signs also cut down on clutter by putting the location ID, the hazards, and the rules on one post instead of several. Fires are a big reason responders end up down there. Open fires aren't allowed in Victoria, and the bank along Dallas Road makes any spark worse.
