Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Email address — when you subscribe to the newsletter or become a member.
• Membership & payment details — processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; Stripe holds it. We store your email, tier, subscription status, and a Stripe customer/subscription identifier.
• Submissions — if you claim a business listing, submit an event, or contact us, we keep what you send.
• Reader feedback — if you react to a story or leave an optional note, we store that response with a one-way, story-specific browser identifier for up to 180 days. We do not connect it to your email address or membership profile.
• Basic analytics — aggregate, non-identifying usage data to understand what readers find useful.

How we use it

To send the newsletter and audio brief you asked for, to run memberships and process payments, to respond to you, and to improve the publication. That is the whole list. We do not use your information for third-party advertising profiles.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that make the publication work, each bound to protect it: Stripe (payments), our email delivery provider (newsletter), Google Analytics (aggregate usage measurement), and our database/hosting providers. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from any email with one tap, anytime.
• Cancel a membership anytime; you keep access through the period you paid for.
• Ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted — email the address below.

Cookies & analytics

We use a small number of first-party cookies to remember whether you’re subscribed or a member (so we don’t re-ask), to keep your reading preferences, to remember whether you have responded to a story, and to enforce one anonymous vote per browser in reader polls. Poll votes and recent poll-view history are stored against a one-way, server-secret identifier rather than your raw cookie, IP address, or browser details; a daily retention job removes poll-view history once it is older than 30 days, so physical deletion may occur on the next scheduled run. We also use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to measure how the site is used in aggregate; this sets Google cookies and shares usage data with Google as our analytics processor. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, we do not build advertising profiles, and we never sell your data.
