Capital Daily is an independent local news publication for Greater Victoria, BC. We collect as little as we can, we never sell your information, and this page explains exactly what we hold and why. We operate under Canada's PIPEDA and BC's PIPA.
To send the newsletter and audio brief you asked for, to run memberships and process payments, to respond to you, and to improve the publication. That is the whole list. We do not use your information for third-party advertising profiles.
Only the service providers that make the publication work, each bound to protect it: Stripe (payments), our email delivery provider (newsletter), Google Analytics (aggregate usage measurement), and our database/hosting providers. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.
We use a small number of first-party cookies to remember whether you’re subscribed or a member (so we don’t re-ask) and to keep your reading preferences. We also use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to measure how the site is used in aggregate; this sets Google cookies and shares usage data with Google as our analytics processor. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, we do not build advertising profiles, and we never sell your data.
Questions, or to exercise any of the rights above, email members@capitaldaily.ca. We are based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
