Reach local readers

Reach Victoria. Book it yourself.

Buy a tasteful, on-brand sponsorship online in about 90 seconds. Local businesses only — no display ads, no banners, no programmatic, no national chains, no sales call. Pick a scarce local position, write it in our builder, and it runs.

How it works

Three steps, no sales call.

You fill the words. We render the design.

01

Pick a placement

Choose a scarce, dated, local position — a day in the briefing, a week on a neighbourhood page, a guide. Local businesses only. The price is on the card.

02

Build it in the Ad Studio

Fill the fields — headline, a line of copy, a link, one logo. A live preview renders it on-brand as you type. You fill the words; we render the design.

03

Pay — we review, it runs

Pay online and your date is held. An editor in the newsroom gives every ad a quick read (usually the same day) and then it goes live on schedule. No proofs to chase, no invoices to wait on.

The inventory

Pick a placement.

Scarce, dated, local. Transparent prices — what you see is what you pay.

Prices in CAD. No setup fees, no minimums.

How we keep it tasteful

The rules are built into the system.

Capital Daily is independent Victoria news, supported by readers and local advertisers. The builder won't let the wrong thing through — fixed type, fixed layout, a label that can't be removed. An editor still reads every unit before it runs.

  • Local businesses only. If you are not rooted in Greater Victoria or the South Island, this is not the right ad product.
  • No display ads, no programmatic, no third-party retargeting. The builder can't even upload a banner — there's nowhere to put one.
  • You fill fields, the template renders the unit. Colour, type, and layout are ours, so nothing runs that looks off-brand or cheap.
  • Every paid unit carries a non-removable LOCAL PARTNER or SPONSORED label. There's no toggle to hide it.
  • Sponsored is never dressed up to read like editorial. The form, the label, and the tint make it obvious what it is.
  • Sponsors never influence coverage. Ad approval and editorial judgment stay separate.
  • We sell scarce local positions, not impressions. One Sponsor of the Day. One partner per neighbourhood per week. When it's taken, it's taken.
FAQ

The questions we get.

Can national chains advertise?+

No. Capital Daily ad space is for local businesses and organizations rooted in Greater Victoria or the South Island.

Do I need to talk to anyone?+

No sales call. Pick a placement, write it in the builder, and pay — the whole thing takes about 90 seconds. An editor gives it a quick read before it goes live, usually the same day.

What if my ad looks ugly?+

It won't. You don't design anything — you fill in a headline, a line of copy, a link, and one logo. Our template renders it in Capital Daily's house style, the same as every other unit on the site.

Can I target one neighbourhood?+

Yes. The Neighbourhood Partner card is scoped to a single page — Fernwood, James Bay, Oak Bay, Cook Street Village, and the rest. You reach the people on that block, not the whole island.

How do I know a date is actually open?+

Each placement shows its next open date, and positions are scarce on purpose — one Sponsor of the Day, one partner per neighbourhood per week. If a date is taken, the builder won't let you book it.

Can I edit it after it's live?+

You can fix a typo or swap a link any time the position is still running. Date and placement changes depend on availability.

Refunds?+

Cancel a future booking before it runs and you're refunded in full. Once a position has gone live for its dated run, that run isn't refundable — but we'll always make a genuine mistake right.

No call, no proposal, no waiting

Pick a placement and start.

Choose a scarce local position, write it in the builder, and pay online. Local ads help keep Capital Daily free, without giving sponsors a say in the newsroom.
