Why they joined.

It's the only newsletter I keep open. The way they handle housing alone is worth the membership.

I work in city hall. They cover the council better than anyone else in town. That's not nothing.

We're a small business and the Friday Food Dispatch has driven more customers than any ad we've run.

FAQ

The questions we get.

Why pay if the stories are free?+

Because the stories aren't free to make. The newsletter is free because we want to be the city's daily habit. Membership is what lets us keep going — paying reporters, maintaining the guides, and keeping the archive open.

What does my membership actually fund?+

Reporter salaries first. The newsletter platform. Living guides. The audio brief. Membership covers about 40% of our annual budget; the rest is partner sponsorships and event revenue.

Is my membership tax-deductible?+

We're a Qualified Canadian Journalism Organization, so an annual membership may be eligible for the federal digital news subscription tax credit — check the current year's rules with your accountant. We issue a receipt either way, and plenty of members expense it through work as professional development.

Can I gift a membership?+

Yes. Email members@capitaldaily.ca with the recipient and we'll set it up.

Is my information private?+

We don't sell, share, or rent any reader data. Period. Our privacy policy is one page — read it.
