Municipal governments make decisions that affect us more directly than any other level of government. While federal and provincial governments may manage budgets that are orders of magnitude larger, the decisions they make usually don't show up on our street corners or affect where our kids play hockey.
There are 13 municipalities that make up Greater Victoria, and for those hoping for amalgamation, that idea is, at best, a long way away. That leaves a lot of councils to keep track of. We're doing some of the work for you with a weekly council roundup in the Capital Daily newsletter, but there's so much more going on than we could possibly fit in, from rezoning applications to taxation decisions to festivals and events.
With a municipal election coming in October 2022, there's no better time than now to get engaged in municipal politics. We've put together the following guide to help you access your Greater Victoria government's meeting agendas and schedules.
