Oscar & Libby's
A downtown gift shop for cards, games, and small funny things.
Two downtown gift shops named after the owners' cats.
Two small shops, one on Fort Street since 2005 and one tucked into Market Square since 2008, both run on a simple bet: the weird, the wacky, and anything that makes you grin. The shelves are a happy jumble of Jellycat plush, rude greeting cards, hot sauce, puzzles, socks you'll buy on impulse, and stim toys that genuinely improve your afternoon. It's the place you duck into for a last-minute gift and leave forty minutes later, having found three things you didn't know existed. Built for browsers, not a shopping list.
The move
Go in with no plan and graze. Regulars come for the Jellycat cuddlies, the fridge magnets, the funny cards, and the socks, then get talked into a Nee Doh or a bottle of small-batch hot sauce on the way to the till.
Go when
Any afternoon you need a present that didn't come from a warehouse, or a five-minute mood lift. Both shops are downtown and open seven days, but they close earlier on Sundays, so save a late-Sunday run for another day.
“There is no better compliment than to hear lots of laughter and giggling in our stores.”
