Habit Coffee

Downtown coffee for people who actually need the coffee to be good.

Carbon-neutral since it opened in 2007, and the mocha's made with melted Belgian chocolate.

Two rooms, one obsession. The Chinatown bar on Pandora is exposed brick and a window nook looking straight down Fan Tan Alley; the Atrium on Yates is floor-to-ceiling glass and, on purpose, no wifi or outlets, because they would rather you talk to someone. Every bean is roasted in town by Bows x Arrows, their only roaster since day one. It is for people who take the actual coffee seriously and like that the place has a conscience to match.

The move

Order the Primo Mocha, the one regulars swear is the best in the city: real Belgian dark chocolate melted per cup, with an extra shot so it never goes sweet and sleepy. Otherwise just say "espresso" and trust the bar.

Go when

Weekday mornings from 7, when the Bows x Arrows roast is freshest and the Atrium fills with light. Skip it if you came to camp with a laptop: no wifi, by design.
