Camas Books
A Quadra Village bookstore and infoshop with a collective spirit.
A volunteer-run bookstore named after a flower the Lekwungen tended.
A Quadra Village fixture since 2007, run by a collective and staffed entirely by volunteers, with no boss and no profit motive, just people who care about the shelves. New and used books share space with a zine rack, plus patches, stickers and tees from local hands. The focus leans hard into anarchism, anti-colonialism, Indigenous and queer and feminist writing, ecology, mutual aid, DIY. It is for the curious and the unconvinced, anyone who wants ideas that the chains never order.
The move
Skip the bestseller logic. Browse the zine rack and the used shelves where the real finds hide, ask a volunteer what just came in, then check the board for the talks, readings and film nights the storefront quietly hosts.
Go when
Open 10 to 6 daily, most holidays included, so there is rarely a bad time to drop in. Go on a slow weekday afternoon when a volunteer can actually talk shop.
